The increasing use of digital technologies in education and everyday life has created new opportunities for learning and communication, while also exposing learners and educators to emerging cyber risks. In alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, particularly a Chapter on Technology Use and Integration, which emphasises safe, ethical and responsible use of technology, CIET-NCERT, in collaboration with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), is organising an online training programme on “Safeguarding Against Cybercrime.” The programme aims to develop awareness, knowledge and practical skills to identify cyber threats, prevent digital harm and promote responsible digital citizenship. Key themes include understanding the cybercrime landscape and emerging threats; protecting children from online crimes and exploitation; recognising risks related to cyberbullying, online grooming, social media exploitation, gaming-related crimes, deepfakes and AI-enabled abuse; understanding digital rights and responsibilities; and adopting safe and ethical digital practices. The course also focuses on cybercrime reporting, help-seeking behaviour and basic incident response in schools, including appropriate escalation, confidentiality, student protection and preservation of relevant digital evidence. Participants will gain practical insights into preventing cyber incidents, supporting children and young people, and accessing appropriate reporting and support mechanisms. The programme aims to empower stakeholders to create safe, secure, inclusive and responsible digital learning environments.
